Overhead Crane Inspector - Qualified
The 3-day course consists of classroom workshops and hands-on inspection sessions. Practical learning is incorporated on overhead cranes and is followed by a written exam and hands-on inspection evaluations. Certification is available, CMAA Members please speak to a Training Solutions Advisor to inquire about 2 Year Certification.
All mechanics and maintenance personnel who are responsible for their company's overhead crane(s) should attend this course, especially those industries with high use cranes, such as production and manufacturing.

Course Overview
Damage Recognition
The trainee will be able to identify the inspection and record-keeping requirements for overhead cranes.
The trainee will be able to locate, identify, and inspect the crane’s safety items.
The trainee will perform an inspection of an overhead crane.
Upon Completion
Each student that completes the full 3-day course will receive 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), as well as a certificate of completion. All ITI Training Center Open Enrollment Students will receive the following student materials:
- Overhead Crane Inspector Student Workbook
- Inspector Tool Pack: Tape Measure, Sheave Gauges, Calipers, Marlin Spike
- Rigging Gear Inspection Reference Card
- Overhead Crane Inspection Forms: Jib, Bridge, Gantry, Monorail
Hands-on inspections will be performed by participants, and a performance evaluation of each inspector will be conducted. A five (5) year ITI Qualification is issued to participants who successfully pass the written exam and performance evaluations. Certification is available, CMAA Members please speak to a Training Solutions Advisor to inquire about 2 Year Certification.
PPE Information
The following PPE is required for all hands-on sessions at ITI Training Centers:
- OSHA-approved hard hat*
- Eye protection*
- Long pants with no holes or tears
- Low-heeled work boots or work shoes
- Full-fingered work gloves*
- OSHA-approved safety vest*
*ITI Training Centers will make these PPE items available for all enrolled students. Students are responsible for their own appropriate garments and footwear.

Each participant will receive a Overhead Crane Inspector Student Workbook, Rigging Gear Inspection Reference Card, Overhead Crane Inspection Forms (Jib, Bridge, Gantry, Monorail), and an Inspector Tool Pack that includes - Tape Measure, Sheave Gauges, Calipers, and a Marlin Spike.
Primarily classroom-based sessions with some interactive workshops.
